It was suggested in another (unrelated) discussion that we should open a topic to discuss budget-related matters. No doubt, Bush wasted any credibility he gained by cutting taxes when he and the Republican congress indulged in a four-year spending spree. Even Eric Cantor succumbed to the temptations of evil by supporting TARP. This, in turn, opened the door for Dems to disparage tax cuts and label the Republicans as hypocrites when it comes to spending (a label that is not entirely undeserved).
So, what should we do? It's easy to take the opposite side of any plan that the Dems propose, but this is not good enough. I'm looking for your ideas concerning the current fiscal environment and what we can do moving forward to right the economic ship.
