I admire your dedication and candor. You do not go along to get along.

Del. Marshall is the best delegate in the House. It is very difficult for any opponent to find holes in his principaled record.

I heard Del. Marshall speak on Saturday and I hated for his talk to end. He is a brilliant. I hope to hear many more of his thoughts in the coming months.

Del. Marshall's principles are attacked by his detractors as knee-jerk, small-minded conservatism. To the contrary, he is among the precious few cerebral members of any state (or national) legislature. He is one of the few public leaders who understands -- and can articulate -- the intents, hopes, and fundamental principles of those who conceived our nation and our constitutional government (well, once upon a timewe had a constitutionally limited government). He understands that it is not even enough that we do the right thing, we must also do the right thing for the right reasons -- otherwise we will eventually put our system of limited government and individual freedom at risk. There are those "pragmatists" who want the legislature to "do something" about every problem or complaint raised by a constituent -- to do something, even if that means a precedent for government intrusion into our lives. Many legislators like the "pragmatic" course of passing another law that they will defend as not really restricting anyone's freedom or commerce while acknowledging to constituents that the legislators "care" about their problems. Del. Marshall is one of the last elected officials who will say that government is the last place that we should look for a solution. Statesmen from Jefferson to Reagan have warned us that there is a natural tendency for government to grow and for personal freedoms to shrink. Del. Marshall actually casts his votes in a manner that reflect those truths.

Bob's '91 campaign was the first campaign that I ever volunteered for in Virginia. Little did I know way back then that someday I would live in the same county, although not in his district.

I noticed Tucker Watkins joined the group, (looked around ?) and then left the group. What's up with that?

Bob has always put prinicples ahead of politics. He sacrificed a possible Chairman seat in his committee when he filed a lawsuit against the State
and argued that HB3202 allowed taxationwithout representative and violated
the constitution. The court agreed.
