New Technology for RPV Network Members

One major issue in the last election was the perceived absence or limited use of new social technologies by conservatives. The purpose of this group is to introduce conservatives to these technologies and their use.

Well, all should be familiar with GovTrack. We ought to be letting our Congresscritters know that we're paying attention.

Hi Chris,

Have you seen this:

http://www.vpap.org/
http://www.votesmart.org/index.htm

VPAP doesn't have an API, but you can scrape Richmond Sunlight with RSS (he aggregates VPAP, LIS and election data and although you could do the same thing by going direct why re-invent the wheel).

Votesmart is a different story altogether, they provide a wonderful API - http://www.votesmart.org/services_api.php. I've used both JSON and PHP to access their back-end directly and both work just spiffy.

Hi Bowl,

I used to be a heavy user of Twitterberry but had intermittent connectivity problems. I made the switch to Tinytwitter and never looked back.

I'm not very proficient, but I want to be supportive and learn from those of you who are tech- savy.

Anyone using Twitter with a Blackberry or IPhone? Please post your trials and tribulations in using Twitter with such devices please. Rumor is Walmart maybe coming out with a $99 IPhone!

I'm especially interested in using technology to make it easier for people to see the need for government reform, i.e., making our Congrescritters more visible.

All I would use the Discussion Forum above to discuss those trials and tribulations when dealing with those specific technologies. I have documented my Twitter experiences above. If you need any help don't hesitate to ask!
