Congratulations Prince William County Republican Committee!

On Saturday December 5th at the 2009 Don Huffman Annual Advance in Williamsburg the Republican Party of Virginia awarded PWCRC the Best Unit Award for the 11th Congressional District. You continued to grow your unit, you made an outstanding effort during the campaign in door knocking, phone banking, supporting all of the candidates and the proof is in the remarkable 34 point turnaround from last year in the general election. You won big for the McDonnell/Bolling/Cuccinelli ticket and brought home 4 out of 5 Delegate seats!! Whooooh..Hhoooh..GO PWCRC.!!

Hi All,

Thank you all so much, for all of your hard work, both at the polls Tuesday and all throughout this long campaign season!! Savor your victory, but know this, the battle has just begun to restore honor, fiscal responsibility, family and moral values, sense of personal responsibility and limited government in our America.

Prince William’s remarkable turn around signifies us as the Lexington of the 21st century. This shot has been heard ‘round the world. There will be many battles ahead in the coming years as we reclaim the country that our Founding Fathers envisioned. We will need to work together to continue at the grassroots precinct level to assure our success in the future.

Here are attached some of the totals from Tuesday's election, enjoy them, but remember we are never more than one year away from crushing defeat, if we don’t maintain our vigilance and work hard. Freedom is not free, it comes with the responsibility to protect and defend it against all enemies, both foreign and domestic!

With your help we have accomplished an amazing result. Prince William County went from down 16 points in the last year's general election to plus 18 points this year!! That is a 34 point swing in just one year. You all deserve a BIG pat on the back.

Ladies and Gents, I got this today from Tom Foley leader of the 1st Congressional District (RPV). Subject was: Parental Rts Amendment and the UN Convention on the rights of the child treaty

Message Read: Dear Folks,

Terry Beatley, 804 462-9950, of Lancaster County and a delegate to the RPV state convention is the CD 1 coordinator for the Mike Farris group ParentalRights.Org.

She would like to speak to you and your units about this group, the effects of Senate ratification of this UN Treaty on our families, and why a parental rights amendment is needed.. She is also interested in speaking to whatever other groups your individual unit members would like to invite her, such as churches, fraternal societies, discussion groups, etc.

Interestingly enough she is also being asked to speak at some Dem meetings which shows some of the universal concern raised by these issues. In addition to providing an understanding of what is at stake she is soliciting signatures on petitions in an attempt to dissuade Sens.Warner and Webb from ratifying this treaty. My understanding is that there is a plan to get at least 10,000 signatures or more from each Congressional District in Virginia.

Terry's email is shown in the cc box and her phone # is above. Should you have any questions please let Terry or myself know. In speaking with Terry today I said that I would request you all to circulate this email among your membership.

Many thanks,
Tom

All,

I bring this up only to see if anyone can confirm or deny this madness. In a DC Republican Examiner article written by Bill Dupray and posted at 5:11pm on February 27, I read the follwoing article"

Impeachment Time: Obama Grants Eminent Domain Rights to China to Secure Debt

The time for partisan bickering just ended. This is as serious as a heart attack. Obama is going to spend so much money, which he intends to get from China via the sale of government backed bonds, that the Chinese apparently don't think he'll be able to make good on them. So President Obama gave the Chinese eminent domain rights to American land and businesses as collateral - i.e. we don't pay, they now own America.

If this story is actually true, then I guess it was a good thing I was a Chinese Linguist during my service in the US Army..... Please tell me this is inaccurate...

Clete - if what I said doesn't apply to you no need for concern. Don't play dumb you know exactly what is an extremist. And that is not anymore name calling than labeling a person RINO if an individual happens to disagree with one or several of another person's opinions.

I don't know where you reside but here in Northern Virginia we are chasing folks into the Democrat Party because of the rather rigid and purist litmus test some of us tend to apply to others regarding their adherence to conservative values and whether its suitable to their belonging to the Republican Party.
Comment by Clete Shultz on February 21, 2009 at 3:15pm
Well Don, you say, "In essence my description of an extremist is anyone who is unwilling or cannot accept differences of opinion without wanting to tie up and burn at the stakes that person."

All I'm trying to do is resolve the differences that we have, one way or the other -- I don't know what those differences are. If I knew what the "extremist elements" were or believed in, I just might agree with you. I certainly don't want to "tie up" and "burn at the stake" anyone. I do know this, if we can't solidify, we don't win.

I happen to believe that Rocky's principles pretty darned well describe the Republican, at least the kind of Republican I am. Some of those principles might be more important to you or to me than the other, but principles are principles -- you're either there or you aren't. No need for name-calling.

With which of those principles do we have disagreement, Don?

Just like the real world Republicans come in all strips and types. After seeing the folks who consistently label other party members RINOS or not sufficiently conservative you will learn who I am mentioning.

Until we come to recognize and appreciate any Republican irrespective to their degree of conservatism we will continue to have problems. Democrats lately became successful after capturing much of our base who felt chased out of the GOP. In essence my description of an extremist is anyone who is unwilling or cannot accept differences of opinion without wanting to tie up and burn at the stakes that person. Some may call such rigid thinking adhering to principles. I call that unrealistic and bound for continued failure.

For better or worst the country is changing and I believe its better to control 70-85% of an agenda than gain nothing because we are such purist. Actually we like to consider the GOP as the party of small business. Do you know of any business that stays alive not adjusting to changing markets. And its not watering down ones principles. Its called marketing and knowing how to remain in business. Our auto industry is prime example of such myopic thinking.

What some folks within the GOP do not also realize is that a northern Republican cannot survive campaigning as those in other parts of the country.
Close to home just go examine the many Inside the Beltway conservative interests groups whose funding rely on bashing "moderate/liberal" Republicans. They too contribute to this toxic atmosphere where nothing gets accomplish.

I consider myself conservative though not a "cave dweller." I can go on and on.
Comment by Clete Shultz on February 20, 2009 at 7:05am
Why don't you tell us about those "extreme elements," Don? I'm not sure what you're talking about ,and not wanting to be an "extremist," would appreciate your your view of "Republican extremism."

Seems to me that we need to get those extreme elements ironed out so that we can unite as a party, huh? :)

You can't be talking about the Republican Party of today with its various extreme elements?

My passion for GOP founding principles tends to run long. Politicians on both side of the isle have lost their way due to political greed and power greed. We have lost the idea of the “gentleman farmer” as leadership. Our founding fathers never intended the leadership in this country to be a full time job.
I researched the founding principles of the GOP, which has driven my passion for getting involved. Our party was created in 1854 by anti-slavery expansion activists who were in opposition to the Kansas-Nebraska Act that would have allowed the expansion of slavery into Kansas. Besides opposition to the expansion of slavery, the party put forward a progressive vision of modernizing the United States, emphasizing higher education, banking, railroads, industry and cities, while promising free homesteads to farmers. The party's founding members chose the name "Republican Party" in honor of Thomas Jefferson who used Republican as the name of his party. The name represented values of civic virtue and opposition to aristocracy and corruption.
These are principles of the past that translate into philosophies of the future.
1. Emphasize the role of free market decision making in fostering economic prosperity.
2. Support the idea of individuals being economically responsible for their own actions and decisions.
3. Consider the income tax system to be inherently inefficient.
4. Oppose graduated tax rates, which unduly target those who create jobs.
5. Private spending is usually more efficient than government spending.
6. The private sector is more effective in helping the poor than government is.
7. Support giving government grants to charitable organizations to supplant welfare spending.
8. Continue to support the welfare reform of 1996, which was signed into law by Democratic President Clinton, and which limited eligibility for welfare, successfully leading to many former welfare recipients finding jobs
9. Make contributions to the protection of the environment.
10. Republican policies eventually led to the creation of the modern U.S. National Park Service.
11. Republican policies were responsible for establishing the Environmental Protection Agency in 1970.
These are “old school” conservative policies that reflect the founders of our party. This is the platform from which leaders should be drawn from.
O.D. hits the nail on the head when he suggested that this is the message that needs to be discussed and spread to everyone. All of us who desire fiscal conservatism, fiscal restraint need to explain these principles to everyone we come in contact with and guide them to join the network so they can be heard. From this group, leaders can be developed and then voted into office.

All,

Although you will normally find me collecting information, analyzing the information, and then forming an opinion, I have to react to the latest article about Terry McAuliffe.

In Sunday’s Washington Post, 15 February 2009, Marc Fisher writes about how McAuliffe is “Brash and Loaded with Cash, McAuliffe skips past the experience issue.”

As I read the article, I became more and more infuriated that this used car salesman is a serious candidate to become our Governor. Please allow my outrage as I provide those of you who may not have read the article, some bits and pieces from it.

Here is a man who is a long time Clinton hired gun, stating in the article that if Hillary had won, he might already be the Secretary of Commerce. The arrogance of this statement reflects McAuliffe’s desire for titles and power, not what is good for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Hillary lost, and now the only position of power he sees available is the Governor of Virginia position.

The article states how McAuliffe has “ traded down…” from the national stage, and how McAuliffe describes himself in the statement, “I’m a pretty good salesman.” The article continues to state how, “Just a couple of months ago, what he (McAuliffe) knew about the state (it is a Commonwealth) consisted mainly of what he saw on his commute from McLean into the District.”

Another Terry McAuliffe quote that raised my blood pressure and are indicative of the man who wants to by our Governor, “If I don’t win, my life doesn’t change on iota.” When Washington Post reporter Marc Fisher attempts to continue his interview with the Democratic candidate, McAuliffe brushes him off with a “Money calls” and he is gone.

I am a strong supporter of Bob McDonnell and conservative values, as I assume most of you are, but we need to get out and make sure the people of Virginia understand what is going on and that an outsider is attempting to purchase the Governor’s mansion.
