Dan - you are far wiser beyond your years. What essentially brought me to the GOP was its fiscal policies too. Using common sense most people would also be socially conservative. However, since you cannot legislate morality or tell folks what to do I usually stay away from highly personal matters. As a result I don't think government should get involved with social engineering.
I agree with you Dan. I hope the vast majority of the Republican Party begins to accept the fact people come from diverse backgrounds and experiences. As a result our outlook on life bound to differ. Although a person chooses the GOP as their political party must not mean they should not think independently. Just as the RJC can accommodate members of varying views the Republican Party must develop this ability too. Democrats are winning elections because after years in the minority and from lessons learned they are not getting bogged down as to whose the most liberal and etc. In some quarters of the GOP being conservative isn't sufficient, one has to be very, very conservative. So much so as to fall off the face of the earth......alone. Unfortunately those influencing the party today know nothing of Republican Party's actual history or perhaps they do choosing to be revisionists. All this fractiousness within the party must end otherwise we are never going to realize even an ounce of whatever it is many are such purist.

I have the good fortune to be coordinating Bob McDonnell's Jewish coalitions across Virginia. I am looking forward to meeting Jewish Republicans from all across this great Commonwealth and working with you to show support for Bob in our community and to show that the Republican party is the party that suits our community best. If you want to be added to the McDonnell's Jewish coalition mailing list, please send me your name, mailing address, and email address at paulkugelman@verizon.net. Thanks! Shalom.
