Virginia argues that they don't need to send out military absentee ballots in time to vote
Saw this on Free Republic. Anyone else heard of this? This is an absolute outrage and just goes to show how far they will go to throw an election. Here is the link to the full article on the next right:

"The Virginia State Board of Elections argued in their most recent filing that they have no legal obligation to send out military absentee ballots in a timely manner. Restated, the State of Virginia has argued in a federal court filing that they can legally send out absentee ballots to active duty soldiers the day before an election. Restated again, the Democratic Chairwoman of the Virginia State Board of Election (appointed by the Democratic National Committee Chair Tim Kaine, in his capacity as Virginia Governor) Jean Cunningham just claimed a legal basis for massively raising the barrier to voting for soldiers at war."

That response from the Virginia State Board of Election was an outrage. Why expend scarce resources for mailings where great likelihood exit for those efforts to be for naught? One would think Democrats claiming to protect rights of the average guy would not engage in such practices. If this action involved one of the "protected" classes the ACLU and other civil rights organizations would yell to the high heavens and trip over themselves rushing to initiate legal action.

Someone has been asleep at the switch to let Virginia Law be so deficent. If this is not on the top of the list for the next session, then every Virginia who cares about our men and women in the military need to march on richmond and not go home until they fix the problem. There isn't any reason that overseas (and CONUS, for that matter) military shouldn't be able to vote electronically.

Electronic voting is not the issue, and for the military, electronic voting adds to mission requirements.
The issue is whether soldiers should be afforded the opportunity to vote just like everyone else. Jean Cunningham has obviously decided that since military members traditionally vote for republican candidates, she should do whatever is possible to disenfranchise them.
