Just as a matter for broad perspective, the most recent forecasts for the possibility, repeat possibility not probability, for implementation of commercially viable fusion is 2070. Since it is just a possibility forecast and is being made from the fusion enthusiasts, it would appear that a comfortable probability forecast would push out to 2100. The obstacle of high temperature sustainable containment remains chief among the scientific and engineering issues.

Yes -- So I set a copy of that article to every Republican Virginia Delegate and Senator. I hope it will be valuable to them in their upcoming campaign in light of their past efforts to secure a viable and growth energy program for our Commonwealth.

Well, duh, but I thought we were talking about nuclear waste going to Yucca Mountain and/or an acceptable technological solution to the spent fuel rods.

Solution: Everything on the National scene for Virginia is four to six years off. State and local offices must be won first. Virginia, you have no voice at the National and you won't any shot at it until until you turn the State and local scene "Red"!

solution: win the Presidency; win the Senate; start teaching the scientific method again; start teaching ANYTHING again.

"Solution?" First: Win majorities in all Virginia government entities. Second: Win back our two Senatorial Seats. Third: Convince them with information as cited in the below listed web site. Better ideas encouraged.

Concerning the nuclear waste article: as long as the politicians remain deliberately ignorant about nuclear energy, we'll never have reprocessing or a breeder reactor. So we are left with a whole pile of "waste" in ponds all over the U.S. Solution?

Bulk or Bunk?

The other day I counted a train of 150 rail cars making its way through Staunton, Va. In “rough” numbers, it could have been hauling anywhere from 22,650,000 to 28,350,000 lbs. Of “bulk“, depending on the size of each car. The larger of those two numbers equates to about 630 tractor trailers needed to haul that same “bulk“.
