There is absolutey no doubt about what the Founding Fathers intent was with the 2nd Amendment. it is evidenced over and over in their writings:

"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence." --George Washington

"[T]he people are not to be disarmed of their weapons. They are left in full possession of them."
--Zacharia Johnson, speech in the Virginia Ratifying Convention, 1788

"We established however some, although not all its [self-government] important principles. The constitutions of most of our States assert, that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves, in all cases to which they think themselves competent, (as in electing their functionaries executive and legislative, and deciding by a jury of themselves, in all judiciary cases in which any fact is involved,) or they may act by representatives, freely and equally chosen; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed."
--Thomas Jefferson, letter to John Cartwright, 1824

I know many conservatives that sat out the last election as they did not want to vote for McCain. A Marxist on the Supreme court is the price we will all be paying for years. Complaining will not change this, so we must be vigilant in closely watching her activities.

Where is everyone? What are your thoughts now that Sonia Sotomayor has been confirmed? I thought I would find lots of comments here.

Hope you all are doing well!

Update on Ammunation

The place for ammunition shoppers to be Saturday was the Gun Show at the Showplace in Richmond. Everybody had ammunition and there were even some bargains. Georgia Arms showed up with lots of stock (they also confirmed that they gave the Chantilly show a pass because they weren’t able to produce enough ammo that week). Production is now back on track. Mac’s Reloads of Virginia Beach was also there (Mac doesn’t usually do the Richmond show).

Some dealers were out of 9mm or .45 acp by Saturday afternoon, but most calibers were still available at reasonable prices. I found the bargain of the day at J and C Sales (from Ohio). They had normally expensive Federal Match .45 acp at about 60% of the normal retail price.

Though stock was thinned out during the day, it may still be worth a drop-in on Sunday if you are near Richmond. Otherwise the next show is in Fredericksburg in two weeks. The details for Richmond are at http://www.cegunshows.com,

The Montana Governor recently signed this bill that appears to
invoke at least the 2nd, 9th, and 10th amendment:
http://data.opi.mt.gov/bills/2009/billhtml/HB0246.htm

My sincere thanks to the good patriots in the legislature of Montana !!!
I just saw a blog message stating a similar bill is in the Texas house now.

WE MUST CHALLENGE THE FED AT THE STATE LEVEL..... ALL THE TIME..... EVERY DAY SOMETHING NEW ... UNTIL THE FOLKS UNDERSTAND THE DAMAGE THE FASCISTS ARE DOING TO OUR CONSTITUTION.....

Looky here! Dems dare not touch gun control unless they think they can sneak it in in little bits. There are a half dozen activist groups ready to pounce on any dem up for re-election. The demographic shift is, interestingly, moving in the same direction on abortion and gun rights---towards life and the protection of it my individual citizens. The dems know this. That's why we have to watch every little amendment to a bill and everything they try to sneak through at night or on the weekends. Be ready to flood D. C. with calls, emails, faxes, and even snail mail. "From my cold dead hands..."

More American Men Support Gun Ownership, Oppose Abortion

Public opinion on gun control and abortion has swayed conservative since a decade ago, particularly in the past year, despite–and possibly in response to–the recent election of the second Democratic president in three decades.

A Pew Research Center report published Thursday detailed the trends among Americans, with the greatest changes in the opinions of men.

Overall, support for the protection of gun owners' rights increased in the past decade, rising from just 30 percent in May of 1999 to 45 percent in April of 2009. Only 49 percent of those recently surveyed support measures to control gun ownership, compared to a 65 percent majority in 1999.

I agree with Michael that the unprecedented demand is a good sign--especially that many patriots are aware and seeking the resources to take action if need be, etc.

I also believe there is not a shred of doubt that the Obommunists are trying to do an end-run around the Heller v. D.C. decision by going after the ammunition supply in different ways. It is blatant and chickensh*t, and we are seeing right through it, and we will stop them cold even if it means open confrontation.

I recently saw a video that shows people in the remote mountains of Pakistan who have learned how to manufacture sophisticated modern automatic weapons, semi-auto pistols and assault rifles, machine guns, ammunition, etc., out of the most rudimentary raw materials and with the most basic production molding techniques...it is a truly mind-blowing video, and I'll try to dig up the link to include it(I searched my email but cannot find it! Google YouTube, Darra, Kohat Pass). It proves that out of necessity and sheer grit, people(and that yet includes us spoiled and sedentary Americans, I insist) can improvise, adapt, and overcome.

G. W. Bush will be criticized endlessly for his myriad shortcomings, but his two Supreme Court appointments will remain unassailable, even if only for the Heller decision alone!

Don't despair. The spike in demand is a good thing. It means more and more Americans are arming themselves. Eighty millions plus. Let's hope a lot more "plus." You can't call that many Americans "extremist," right wing or otherwise. And, how many liberals do you think are arming themselves? They think they can use the army to put down us "extremists" but must military are conservatives--- up to 80 percent and there would be widespread mutiny. But such is much more likely the more Americans refuse to cow before our putative masters, er. "leaders." It is a huge face-off.

We gun owners must stand united with other "extremists" like the pro-lifers, property-rightsers, cut-taxers (just holding the line on taxes is no longer enough,) pro-drill our own oilers, anti-Earth Day'ers, pro-strong-borders, anti welfare state, pro radio free speech, anti-highway-roadcheck and radar camera police state, and anti-regulatory police state in general. (Add your own pet welfare/control-freak/socialist pet peeves.)

We can face off the leftist enemy until we regain, or gain control for the first time --- depending upon how you look at it, this year and next. Even democrats cow before pro gun "abolutists." If you do not properly fill out the pro gun questionaire you won't get elected! Check out vgoc.org, and vcdl. org especially.

The anti-gunners are making a lot of noise but will not get their way unless we slack off, and/or their guys in Congress, etc. do not care about getting re-elected. Then there's 2010. The more hideous this regime the better for us ----next year! A lot of stupid Americans got fooled. But when their Saviour fails to deliver their precious jobs and/or cash for not working, etc. many losers will stay at home on election day. Our people will be more energized than ever.

We had to hit bottom in order to force some backbone on our elected poltroons and scalawags! More "moderates" than conservatives will lose in 2010, reflecting 2008. We have to make sure men like Pat Toomey get elected in Pa., and Ken Cuccinelli, Bill Bolling and less-than-perfect Bob McDonnell get elected in Virginia. And get Virgil Goode back into Congress! And pick up another seat or two in Virginia. We can do it. We can keep the Virginia House and maybe pick up a seat in the Senate if we learn to pick our battles and not shoot our selves in the over either unwinnable or small-difference candidacies.

There are many states working to pass laegislation that would require ammunition encoding and order the destruction of all shell casings that
are not encoded. One has to wonder if somehow the strong arm of the
federal government is working behind the scenes to stop the recycling of
old casings even before legislation at the state level is passed. This has,
afterall, become a nation of trickle-down beauracracy of control by special
interests. Who knows who is pulling the strings of tyranny.
passed.

These unprecedented shortages have left me thinking about this:

The anti-gun ultra-liberals have been unsuccessful (so far) with their legislation to 're-interpret' the 2nd Amendment and remove & keep guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens. I can't help but wonder if they've figured out another tactic - no ammunition renders the guns useless.
