Phillip Whitaker commented on Phillip Whitaker's blog post My Response to a member of the Central Commitee
"While I share the concerns expressed for the future of the republican party, my greater concern at the moment is for the Republic itself. If we fight for the Republic, we will be fighting for true conservatism, and the party can join us or perish. I…"

"Very very well stated Mr. Whitaker. Thank you for taking the time to send this letter. We must get back to good solid based, and proven successful Conservative Principles. As Lynda stated below, the Grassroots are becoming much more active, vocal…"

Lynda VanLiew Fairman commented on Phillip Whitaker's blog post My Response to a member of the Central Commitee
"Well said, Phillip! I believe our conservative grassroots ARE becoming vocal and are mobilizing - a frightening concept to the old-school-style, closed-door power brokers who seem to be clenching their fists against the will of the…"

Phillip Whitaker replied to Jody L. Wilcox's discussion What REPS need to do to turn the tide in the group The Chesterfield County Republican Committee

My Response to a member of the Central Commitee

Thank you for your prompt response and your forthright answers to my questions. I read with interest your email notification explaining your vote to remove Chairman Frederick. I had previously reviewed the list of "charges" leveled at him and his response to them. Personally, I found nothing in the charges that seemed "substantive" as you describe it. I found Mr. Frederick's answers to the matters both full and totally legitimate.Your email says that the dispute with Mr. Frederick had nothing…See More

Phillip Whitaker commented on Tom Whitmore's blog post Where Do We Go From Here?
"Tom, I see wisdom, as well as commitment in your words. That is refreshing and challenging. I too am moved by current circumstances to become more involved at the local level. I have neglected that duty for far too long with feeble excuses of time…"

When Thomas Paine came to America, he was one man looking for a job. He had some trouble getting settled in England, and at the recommendation of an acquaintance (B. Franklin) came here to try again. In the winter of 1776, strong loyalist sentiments bore a heavy influence in Philadelphia. Paine saw this and recognized the truth. George III of England sought to control behavior in the colonies by his overbearing tax policies. Paine also recognized the fact that oppressive taxation was not…See More

The ABC's of getting the state out of the booze business.

A chorus of religious leaders and morally upright citizens are speaking quite loudly about Governor McDonnell's proposal to sell off ABC store licenses and privatize the sale of distilled spirits. I am a member of one of the larger groups opposed to the Governor's plan. I agree with their concern about making alcohol easier to get, more underage drinking, and the possibility of negative societal effects with the implementation of the plan.

However, there is a larger issue at…
