I love politics, always have, ever since the first time I watched Rush Limbaugh on his TV show back when I was in 4th grade in the 90s. I always followed the news, politics, and the issues as a hobby, but it wasn't until the summer before my senior year of college (Boston University '05) that I realized how much I disliked my major (biology) and how I'd so much rather concentrate on something I really loved and wasn't a chore for me to tackle--politics. So, I made sure it was doable to switch my major to Political Science (while keeping Bio. as a minor) quite literally at the last minute, and I did! Being in Boston in 2004, I applied for an internship with Governor Mitt Romney in the State House downtown and spent a semester working in his press shop. After graduation, I moved back home (Philadelphia, PA) for a while as I searched for a job in Washington, D.C. I knew someone who was involved with the PA Republican State Paurty, and managed to hook me up with pretty much the best volunteer opportunity ever (in my opinion of course)--driving one of the cars in President George W. Bush's motorcade! Yep! I drove one of the press vans in GWB's gigantic and incredibly technical motorcade for a total of about 2 hours as he briefly visited the Main Line Philadelphia to stump for Sen. Rick Santorum's reelection to the Senate (which he unfortunately lost). After finding a job, I officially moved to D.C. in September 2006 and started working for Eagle Forum, a national conservative grassroots lobbying organization founded by Phyllis Schlafly. I have been there for over 2 years and now serve as Legislative Director.
