This particular post is provided for background only since it is my theory that most, if not nearly all, efforts on this site should be directed to maintaining a majority in our House of Delegates, gaining more Republican seats in our General Assembly Senate, and recapturing the Governor’s mansion.
The only priority worthy of consideration, in my opinion, is winning this November. Nothing else matters -- because Virginia Republicans can do nothing else about what “matters“.
Virginia Republican efforts, discussions, and analysis remonstrating against the national “politico porch” and our Republican “make over” are fruitless, wasteful, and counterproductive to our real Virginia political need -- regaining a Virginia Republican voice in the Congress. And that can only be done from the bottom up -- by “painting” Virginia “Red” from the bottom up.
Again, only you can stop this “ad nausea” with surety that November is ours. And should you fail, then I will ruin your disposition with “I told you so!”
On the technical interest side of “where our money goes”, please see the statement in the CBO’s Monthly Budget Review attached for your pleasure reading: “The April total also includes the payment of $2.5 billion to Egypt and Israel for military aid…..”. By Mr. Obama’s assessments for savings, this figure would be similarly significant to the over all “over” spending. And he would be quite right since we have been making these payments yearly since 1967 ( I believe, if not earlier). That’s 42 or so years! Why? Because it’s ransom money so Egypt and Israel will not get “frisky” with one another. Worth it? Probably. Just an example of the deep “doo-doo” of debt and obligation that has bankrupt our treasury -- and we are bankrupt -- witness the very latest unsuccessful treasury bond sale just this week -- those green shoots look pretty wilted to me, notwithstanding CNBC rally to “rally“ Wall Street.
And to “blow you off” just a little more take a “gander” at S702. No wonder GM and Chrysler and every other business or interest believes “they’re owed one”.
