Spector Endorses Holder for Confirmation as AG

Readers may recall President Obama's nominee for Attorney General, Eric Holder. He was involved in arranging the pardon of criminal Marc Rich, an act described by FBI Director Louis Freeh as a corrupt act.

He arranged to reduce the sentences of FALN terrorists (something even they did not request) to promote the candidacy of Hillary Clinton for Senator from New York.

He was serving as Deputy Attorney General to AG Janet Reno when the Justice Department directed the abduction of Elian Gonzalez by federal agents with automatic weapons and subsequent exile to communist Cuba.

While D.C. v. Heller was being heard by the Supreme Court in 2008, Holder joined the Reno-led amicus brief, which urged the Supreme Court to uphold Washington, D.C.'s handgun ban and said the position of the Department of Justice, from Franklin Roosevelt through Bill Clinton, was that the Second Amendment does not protect an individual right to keep and bear arms for purposes unrelated to a State’s operation of a well-regulated militia. The Supreme Court overturned the Washington, D.C. handgun band and specifically ruled that the Second Amendment did represent an individual right to keep and bear arms.

In an announcement tonight, Senator Arlen Spector (Rino-PA), ranking minority member of the Senate Judiciary Committee revealed that he will endorse the confirmation of Eric Holder. With friends like this who needs enemies.
