I will be a first time delegate at the state convention. I got involved because I do believe that everyone can make a difference regardless of status and/or position. I also believe that the GOP has alot to offer the common man, not just the country club crowd, as the media and magority of people see it. I am a home healh nurse and I talk the alot of people from varying socioeconomic classes, but with an emphasis on the middle and lower classes - alot of Democrats. I hear their problems and concerns, as well as their perception of the GOP as the rich and country club crowd that does not understand their problems and is disconnected from the average man. When I started getting emails and campaign info in the mail on the two chair candidates, there were some things that caught my eye, and made me question some things. When I saw Mullins ads I felt like he is the image of the country clubber that everyone calls us - raising $1 mil for GOP Fairfax ( the richest area of the state - is that hard to do in that area?), posing with a horse and sells horse insurance ( not an Average Joe job). The GOP needs to get back to grassroots with someone that seems like an average guy I think. Try selling membership to the average voter by saying we put a ne guy at the helm that comes from the richest areas of the state and sells not health insurance but horse insurance. The people with connections and money can still fundraise but for the front and center image we need to get away from this fat cat image. Remember you need money to win yes, but the upper 1 to 5 percent of the population didn't swing the vote this lst time - people connected with what they thought was the less elite candidate, that knew where they came from
