"Our freedom is from God, not government. Our prosperity comes from a free people in a free market, not overtaxing, free-spending bureaucrats. We celebrate and protect life, born and unborn. And our best hope for a brighter future is in the empowerment of individuals and families, not in the constraints imposed by a bloated bureaucracy. " -- Michael Steele

It saddens me to see how many moderate to conservative African Americans voted for Obama purely on the basis of ethnic pride. To win, the GOP needs to keep about 20% of Black voters in our column. In Virginia this year, McCain got only 5% -- one of the key factors in why the Old Dominion went Democrat for the first time since the 1964 LBJ landslide. We CANNOT concede the black vote to the Democrats.

African Americans are one of the strongest demographic segments of church-goers -- even those who tend to vote Democrat on economic issues are social conservatives with a small "c" and many will cross over if we get our message right. They're also strongly represented in the demographic of current and former members of the armed forces. People who believe in God and in fighting for their country ought to be OUR voters....

The Democrats don't have a monopoly on dynamic leaders who happen to be Black. Mike Steele has more experience in his pinky finger than the President-elect has in his entire being. As much as I love Sarah Palin and think she did a fine job, in retrospect I wish McCain had picked Steele. He's done a fine job as head of GOPAC and he's exactly the right guy to get the RNC in fighting shape for the 2010 mid-term elections and beyond.

Please encourage Virginia's RNC members to vote for Michael Steele at the January meeting - a principled Conservative from our neighbor state of Maryland who will get the job done!

RED-HOT KING GEORGE COUNTY! One silver lining in the big cloud of election 2008 -- King George County held for the GOP. Congrats to chairman Larry Kile and his team for keeping us in the "Red" column. We went through a major re-organization in 2007 as many know, and rebuilding the local GOP was no easy task. Now we need to re-group to maximize the GOP margin in King George for our statewide candidates and for House of Delegates. Building for 2009......

Rest In Peace, Paul Weyrich

The modern-day Conservative Movement lost one of its most important founders today with the untimely passing of Paul Weyrich.

Paul was the consumate "organizational entrepreneur", to use a phrase coined by our own Virginia GOP National Committeeman -- and fellow Movement founding father -- Morton Blackwell.

Paul's efforts spawned… Continue

New King George GOP Website Launched

Our new website for the King George Republican Committee launched today. Still a lot to do -- it's still pretty much "Web 1.0" but a big improvement graphics-wise over where we were before. To be added soon - online volunteer form, email signup, online donations - and quite a lot of content build-out and streamlining. Lots more to do, but this is a good interim step. Onward and upward.....

On Red States and Blue States

By the way, who decreed that the good guys were the "red" states anyway? Years ago, election maps sometimes used blue for Republican states and sometimes red, with the decision being pretty much up to the mapmaker. Assigning a fixed color to each party seems to be a fairly recent invention in the last 10 years or so.

It's now become so ingrained in the pop culture and pundit-speak, that we're probably inalterably stuck with it.

What a pity.

As a baby boomer… Continue

Thanks for the invite. Glad to be part of the KG contingent. I'm angry at the way that Cathrine Crabill is being thrown under the bus by all of the Repub elite (see 8/23 F-L Star). Hope that turns around or I might sit this one out. You would never see a democrat do that. Look at Creigh Deeds with his arm around the CinC. They are always lovey-dovey. It violates R2's (Ronald Reagan) first rule to never speak ill of a fellow Republican. Albert Pollard is one of the most ineffective members of the GA, and needs to go. Sorry for the long post.

Hello KiddoKathryn,

Thanks for the time last night donning apparel for my Minister of State, Thomas Jefferson.

Today he equipped me with some Franklin derived device called an iPhone.

Now I must learn how to use it. Attempted to communicate with you earlier, though, alas, young lass, without success.

Look forward to our next meeting to plan the renewed Revolution.
